You Can Climb that Big Mountain
Colossians 3:23,24 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ. (NRSV)
When was the last time that you were confronted by a mountain so big that it appeared impossible to climb? Do you remember how daunting it felt, how completely unachievable you knew it would be?
Back in May 2016 a man whom I respect greatly walked up to me and said: “I think the Lord’s calling you to start a daily television devotional message.” It took me all of two seconds to conclude that that was completely absurd. I gave him every reason under the sun why it couldn’t happen … but by the time we’d finished our chat, a small voice inside me told me that this was exactly what I was meant to do.
Fast forward seven and a half years and today on this first day of the new year, we’re into the 2,500th Fresh devotional message. That’s two and a half thousand ideas, scripts, radio recordings, television shoots … one at a time.
Now I share that with you, not to boast but to encourage you with this truth … that in order to climb big mountains, you need to take small steps.
Colossians 3:23,24 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ. (NRSV)
Without doubt, the Lord has something impossible for you to do, something for you to begin. Whatever that is, throw yourself into it, do it for the Lord one small step at a time. Because ultimately your reward comes from Him.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
