I Shall Not Be Moved

Psalm 16:8-10 I always remember that the Lord is with me. He is here, close by my side, so nothing can defeat me. So my heart and soul will be very happy. Even my body will live in safety, because you will not leave me in the place of death. You will not let your faithful one rot in the grave.

We don’t like to talk about the times in life when things aren’t going all that well. After all, we want people to think well of us. We want them to think that we’re happy and successful. But life ain’t always like that.

There are times in life when our circumstances seem to overwhelm us. I wonder … when was the last time that you felt that way? When you’re like that cork bobbing around in the ocean, feeling that you’re going to go under any minute, do you know what you really need? Some solid ground beneath your feet.

Well … here’s the good news. While it may not feel like it some days, you already have solid ground beneath your feet. And the way to discover that is to turn to God for His counsel. The way to discover that is to believe deep in your heart somewhere that God is with you; not a million miles away, but right there at your right hand.

Psalm 16:8-10 I always remember that the Lord is with me. He is here, close by my side, so nothing can defeat me. So my heart and soul will be very happy. Even my body will live in safety, because you will not leave me in the place of death. You will not let your faithful one rot in the grave.

That was written by King David of Israel, a man who had way more than his fair share of mishaps, a man whom many people tried to hunt down and kill – from his predecessor, Solomon, right through to his own son.

Maybe today, you just needed that reminder.

I always remember that the Lord is with me. He is here, close by my side, so nothing can defeat me. So my heart and soul will be very happy.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
