God’s Power of Protection

1 Peter 1:5-6 God’s power protects you through your faith, and it keeps you safe until your salvation comes. That salvation is ready to be given to you at the end of time. I know the thought of that is exciting, even if you must suffer through different kinds of troubles for a short time now.

Can I ask you … what keeps you going day after day, through the sunny days, the cloudy days, the stormy days … the days that really, you’d skip over if you could? What keeps you looking forward?

Marie Durand was a 16th century French Huguenot who spent 38 years imprisoned in the Tower of Constance for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. Arrested at just 19, she endured relentless pressure to recant. Yet through hunger, disease and despair she clung to the hope of Christ.

On the prison wall, she carved the word Resist”, encouraging others to stand firm. Many weakened over the years, but Marie remained steadfast, leading prayers, offering comfort, and reminding others of God’s promises. Her faith became a beacon of perseverance.

She was finally released at age 57. But with her home and family gone, the persecution went on. Yet, in her heart, she’d always been free—because her hope was in eternal glory, not earthly ease. To similarly persecuted Christians in the 1st Century, the Apostle Peter writes this:

1 Peter 1:5-6 God’s power protects you through your faith, and it keeps you safe until your salvation comes. That salvation is ready to be given to you at the end of time. I know the thought of that is exciting, even if you must suffer through different kinds of troubles for a short time now.

God’s power through your faith will protect you, will keep you safe, until one day when your end comes, your salvation into eternal glory is guaranteed. As the world relentlessly grinds you down … resist in faith. He will protect you to the end.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
