God’s Love Fills the Earth

Psalm 119:64 Your love, GOD, fills the earth! Train me to live by your counsel.

Have you ever felt completely unloved … I mean, as though there’s not a single person on this planet who loves you? I have, and without doubt that was the lowest point of my life.

I’m not sure if everyone gets there, but I suspect that at some point we all do. You can feel unloved even when people do love you – and that feeling is the absolute pits.

Nineteenth century poet and writer Edgar Allan Poe wrote some dark and macabre pieces. Orphaned at a young age, his life was marked by tragedy, poverty and a deep sense of alienation. He was raised by a foster family who never actually adopted him, so he struggled with feelings of abandonment and insecurity throughout his relatively short life.

It seems to me quite telling that his dark writings have resonated so deeply with people that he’s now seen as one of America’s greatest-ever writers, even though he was never fully accepted by the literary establishment in his lifetime.

Have you been there – completely unloved? Are you perhaps there now? Then I have some news for you, some very good news:

Psalm 119:64 Your love, GOD, fills the earth! Train me to live by your counsel. (MSG)

There’s not a single place you can go to on this earth – not a hole so deep, a mountain so high, a desert so barren, not even plumbing the depths of the oceans – where God’s love for you is not there.

You may feel unloved … and if you do, I feel your pain, truly I do, because I’ve been there too. That’s why I can tell you that in the darkest, loneliest, most unloved place of your life, God’s unfailing love is already there waiting for you!

Your love oh Lord, fills the earth!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
