Don’t Play Hide & Seek with God
Jeremiah 23:23-24 This message is from the LORD. “I am God, and I am always near. I am not far away. Someone might try to hide from me in some hiding place. But it is easy for me to see that person, says the LORD, because I am everywhere in heaven and earth.”
Remember when you did something wrong as a child how you’d hide it from your parents? Sometimes you got away with it, other times you didn’t. Either way, it wasn’t a nice feeling having to hide things or getting caught, was it?
In 1963, eleven men pulled off an audacious heist in the UK that became known as “The Great Train Robbery”, stealing £2.6 million sterling (the equivalent of around £55 million today). Most of it was never recovered.
One of them, Ronnie Biggs, became particularly well known after escaping from prison just 15 months into his 30 year sentence, spending most of the rest of his life as a fugitive in Brazil.
Yet despite the fact that Great Britain had no extradition treaty with Brazil, eventually the reality of being a fugitive, even a wealthy one, got to him. After 35 years on the run he returned home where he was immediately arrested and sent back to prison.
Fascinating. Eventually His conscience just … got to him. So do we imagine that we can somehow hide our misdeeds from God?

Let’s not delude ourselves. It’s time to fess up and make things right with God; to turn around and come home. And when you do, rather than locking you up, He’ll forgive you. It’s just who He is.
Because that’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
