De Facto Relationships
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honoured by everyone. And every marriage should be kept pure between husband and wife. God will judge guilty those who commit sexual sins and adultery.
The world being what it is, with devices which only a few years ago would have been considered to be supercomputers now in the palm of our hands, marital infidelity has never been easier to fall into.
And that’s a tragedy of epic proportions. Whether it’s forming inappropriate online relationships or viewing inappropriate content, this stuff is tearing marriages apart en masse.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honoured by everyone. And every marriage should be kept pure between husband and wife. God will judge guilty those who commit sexual sins and adultery.
When I read something like that, I like to poke behind the English translation into the original Greek language in which it was written. And here, the author talks about the marriage bed not being defiled.
It’s one thing to say … don’t do it! It’s another thing to answer the question … how? How, in this world when inappropriate content is being shoved under our noses all the time, do you avoid falling into temptation?
Answer: by honouring your marriage. By making sure that it’s filled with the emotional and physical intimacy that God always intended. After all, that was His idea and it’s His blessing to husband and wife.
Don’t hold yourselves back from one another. Don’t live your life with your face buried in your mobile phone, scrolling endlessly through your social media feeds.
Because that neglect is, in itself, a dishonouring of your marriage. No!
Marriage should be honoured by everyone. And every marriage should be kept pure between husband and wife.
Husbands, wives … honour your marriage. Give yourselves to one another lest you fall into temptation and be judged guilty by God.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
