Be Warned: Stay Away

Isaiah 47:13-14 You have many advisors. Are you tired of the advice they give? Then send out your men who read the stars. They can tell when the month starts, so maybe they can tell you when your troubles will come. But they cannot even save themselves. They will burn like straw. They will burn so fast that there will be no coals left to cook bread. There will be no fire left to sit by.

Astrology, it seems, is making something of a comeback. Celebrities won’t make a move without consulting their charts and everyone seems to know someone who’s retraining as an astrologer.

A recent news article on the subject reported that “You don’t need to be an astrologer to see that the zodiac is having a moment. Horoscopes are so hot right now that a certain astrology app has grown to over 30 million users, there are an estimated 100 billion views of astrology-related content on TikTok, and the astrology market is expected to reach $US22.8 billion by 2031.”

Who’d have thought that astrology would turn out to be a multi-billion-dollar industry? And can I tell you that my news feeds are filled with astrology predictions. Despite the fact that I consistently rate them with a thumbs-down to indicate that I don’t want to see them anymore, they keep appearing.

It’s to be easy to be tempted, isn’t it? I mean, surely, it’s pretty innocuous … just a bit of fun really. Time to think again. Here’s God’s take on the hocus-pocus astrology business:

Isaiah 47:13-14 You have many advisors. Are you tired of the advice they give? Then send out your men who read the stars. They can tell when the month starts, so maybe they can tell you when your troubles will come. But they cannot even save themselves. They will burn like straw. They will burn so fast that there will be no coals left to cook bread. There will be no fire left to sit by.

Astrology. It may be trendy. It may be tempting. It may appear to be a bit of fun. But think again. God condemns it over and over. It’s a dangerous imposter. So be warned. Stay away.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
