God’s Perfect Love for Us
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Have you ever felt unloved? Sometimes that feeling is born out of a depth of loneliness and isolation that’s simply beyond words. Other times, people just neglect to acknowledge you, to thank you, to celebrate a win with you … leaving you feeling that everyone’s just taking you for granted.
This feeling of being unloved is a whole lot more common than you may think. Someone recently wrote to me and said this: many people, including myself, feel – even believe – that they’re unloved, or that love is conditional. Could you talk about God’s perfect love for us?
There it is, right there. One of the millions of people on the planet who, right in this moment, feels unloved. So, just in case you’re in that place or you find yourself in that place one day, here’s a truth to heal your heart:
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (NIV)
The compassion that God has for you is unbounded, without limits. When you feel so completely alone that your spirit within you is crushed, know this: God is closer to you right in this moment than even the deepest secrets of your heart. And He fully intends to save you from this place.
Corrie ten Boom was imprisoned and tortured by the Nazis for helping Jews to escape the holocaust. Her suffering was profound. And yet, on reflection, she once said, “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”
Broken hearts think that God is far away, when really, that’s the time He’s nearest to them. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
