I find technology absolutely fascinating because it seems to offer powerful solutions to time consuming problems.  Here are some of them.

 

1 week to replace a broken hip joint with a synthetic one, compared to two months or more waiting for a bone to knit together.

1 hr to connect all the laptops in an office wirelessly that would take a week to connect with installed trunked cables!

10 minutes to create a multi track news clip that would take a morning using spliced tape recorder tapes!

120 seconds to print a poster size map that would take a month if done by hand.

1 second to take and view a picture that would take a day to develop and print from film

 

..and there are probably better examples!!

 

On the other hand technology is not much good when no one likes or cares about you. 

At best technology is a temporary distraction.  I think we can live quite happily without technology, but not happily without a friend.

What better friend can you find than he who would be willing enough to die in your place.  As an old hymn so simply says..

 

"What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and grief to share

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer"
